Letter from the President

Welcome to the 2018 – 2019 Emory Employee Council.

Our theme for this year is 2020 Vision: Looking Ahead to 50 Years of Emory Employee Council.

Founded in 1970, the Employee Council has fulfilled its mission by being a strong and active voice in facilitating communication between Emory employees and University administration, and by participating in the governance of the University.  Read more about our purpose and mission at http://www.employeecouncil.emory.edu/about/index.html

As we prepare to celebrate our 50th anniversary, we will look back at our successes over the years and think about where we can be a more effective advocate for University employees.

We will begin in September with a Visioning Session to focus on where we have been as a group, what we have done effectively, and what we might have done better.  In February, we’ll have a follow-up session on where we are heading as we begin the next chapter of Employee Council.

Members of the President’s team will speak with us in October about the University’s Strategic Plan, and in November about the University’s Master Plan.  We will learn more about these crucial initiatives in the next phase of Emory’s mission and growth, offer our voices, and discuss ways that we can invest more fully in Emory’s future.

We’ll also have some fun this year with our annual holiday party, a session with Emory authors, and a trip to Oxford College to sample their excellent farm-to-table cuisine.

Thank you for all that you do for the employees of Emory University, and I look forward to learning with you how we can be the best possible advocates for our great community.
